I understand that most of the Mandriva Linux users in Singapore are looking for a simple "How To" on installing and configuring the SingTel BroadBand on Mobile (HUAWEI E220) on Mandriva 2009.0 in a KDE 4.xx environment
I'm going to show in the article below on how easy and simple it is infact with Mandriva 2009.0
STEPS
1. Connect the USB HSDPA Modem HUAWEI E220 on any of your available USB Ports
2. "harddrake2" should automatically detect the plugged in HUAWEI modem, however do check it out by running the below command on a Konsole as root
[root@localhost anand]# lspcidrake -v | grep HUAWEI
You should get a reply like this
option : HUAWEI Technologies|HUAWEI Mobile (vendor:12d1 device:1003)
3. This shows that the device is detected and "rpmdrake" will automatically prompt you to install KPPP if you're in KDE or any other PPP dialers if you're in GNOME. There wont be any prompt if you've already installed your PPP dialers.
4. Double click your Network Applet on your desktop toolbar or go to MCC (Mandriva Control Center) --> Network & Internet --> Network Center and you should see your HUAWEI Technologies HUAWEI Mobile detected there as PPP0

5. Click on it and you should get three additional buttons as Monitor, Configure and Refresh
6. Click on Configure and provide the below information
a. Access Point Name = internet b. Account Login (User Name) = blank (Yes Leave it BLANK) c. Account Password = blank (Yes Leave it BLANK)

7. Click Ok to save this setting
8. On the main Network Center window, Click "Connect" on the PPP0 and voila! there you get your SingTel BroadBand on Mobile working on your shiny new Mandriva 2009.0
